Using EFT Instead of Emotional Eating/Drinking
Setup - Karate Chop (KC) or Sore Spot (SS): Even though I try to tranquilize negative or unpleasant feelings with food or alcohol when I COULD do EFT instead, and I miss an opportunity to do some healing, I deeply and completely accept myself.
KC or SS: Even though I have this long-standing habit of filling my stomach to suppress bad feelings because I am so uncomfortable feeling them, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.
KC or SS: Even though it's been my pattern to eat or drink to stuff down bad emotions, I am open to CHOOSING to do EFT on the negative feelings first, and I profoundly accept and forgive myself even with my old destructive patterns.
EB (Eyebrow): Eating feels SO good, and tastes SO good
SE (Side of the Eye): It tranquilizes the bad feeling that's coming up in me in the moment
UE (Under the Eye): So I don't have to feel it. I don't have to address it.
UN (Under the Nose): I don't want to FEEL, I want to eat! I want to drink alcohol!
CH (Chin): I'd rather eat and feel good in the moment than to feel the unpleasant feeling
CB (Collarbone): But maybe I can stop, face the feeling, and do EFT instead
UA (Under the Arm): I have this old, old pattern of turning to food and drink
TH (Top of the Head): But maybe I could change this pattern and replace it with awareness, and EFT
Setup - Karate Chop (KC) or Sore Spot (SS): Even though I stuff down unpleasant feelings with food or alcohol when I COULD address the feelings with EFT and get more permanent relief, I deeply and completely accept myself.
KC or SS: Even though I overeat instead of addressing and releasing my negative emotions with EFT, and I miss a valuable opportunity to get some healing on my issues, I deeply and completely accept myself.
KC or SS: Even though I have this powerful tool in EFT, yet I "forget" to use it when I am triggered to do some emotional eating or drinking, I am open to the NEW habit of TRYING EFT FIRST in these moments, and I deeply and profoundly love and accept myself.
EB (Eyebrow): When I'm triggered I forget to do EFT, or I just plain don't WANT to do it
SE (Side of the Eye): I don't do EFT in these moments of deep craving, even when I know it could help me
UE (Under the Eye): EFT is such a powerful tool, and I KNOW that! I've seen the results!
UN (Under the Nose): So I choose now to see that my strong urges to drink or overeat
CH (Chin): Are actuallly OPPORTUNITIES to focus on and deal with my baggage
CB (Collarbone): They are opportunities to use EFT on whatever negative emotion is coming up
UA (Under the Arm): So instead of reaching for my favorite comfort food to tranquilize it
TH (Top of the Head): I set the intention to instead reach for EFT
EB (Eyebrow): And pause for a moment to FACE the negative emotion that's come up
SE (Side of the Eye): So I can tune in to it and do some tapping
UE (Under the Eye): And when I'm done tapping, maybe the negative emotion as well as the craving will be gone, or at least greatly reduced
UN (Under the Nose): Maybe it won't
CH (Chin): But maybe it will -- because I'll have taken the edge off
CB (Collarbone): Or perhaps released it altogether with EFT
UA (Under the Arm): It's worth a try!
TH (Top of the Head): So I set the STRONG intention to form a NEW habit: To face my emotions, and try EFT first when I get the urge to tranquilize a bad feeling with food or alcohol.
I can't wait to make this new pattern a permanent habit in my life!!
